The floods

September 2008 Rainstorm dumped more rain in a few days than the Chicago area saw in 137 years. WOW! We got a lot of rain and then the remnants of Hurricane Ike arrived. Our basement was a bit flooded (it's unfinished) so Jorge and I were moving things around at 6:30 am on a Saturday. But a few of our neighbors had some exterior sump pump action going on to relieve the flooding and I know the neighbors to one side had water in a basement apartment- yikes! We consider ourselves lucky. For the amount of rain around here, the backyard flooding was nothing. And the crazy thing is about 2 hours after the rain stopped, the flooding in our backyard was almost gone while our neighbors still had theirs.

Here was our backyard

"STOP! No, GO DOWN! Mom, I want a cinderella umbrella too." Thanks for taking pictures of your kids in the rain... Kadie is obsessed with Cinderella and princesses in general at the moment. LoL Cute pics and glad the flooding wasnt as bad as it could have been.
